Do they know? What do they think when they see the lights and trees, when they hear the carols? From Thanksgiving on, our city was decorated with beautiful lights and a huge live Christmas tree, yet most of the people in our city have no idea of the real meaning of Christmas. Of the 500,000 people living in Utsunomiya, probably 498,000 of them have never heard the real Christmas story. So how could they know?
Even though I believe what the Apostle Paul said in Romans 1 about all people being without excuse, I also know we, who are followers of Christ, have no excuse not to tell these 498,000 people because of Christ’s Great Commission in Matthew 28. In this new year of 2010, pray that the Lord will open the hearts of the people in our city so all the people who have never heard the real Christmas story will hear and follow the Savior who was born that first Christmas day. It is truly good news of great joy for all the people!
In Luke 2:10, the angel that appeared to the shepherds said, ”Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
Pray for many to come to accept not only the true meaning of Christmas, but also that they will understand this is the beginning of Christ’s journey to the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and will accept him as their personal Savior and Lord!
