We learned today from a pastor that there are many families along the coast who do not have rice to eat. Please pray that we will be able to find these pockets of people and get food and other necessities to them.
Volunteers from the city, from aid groups, from mission groups work each day to clean out mud from inside houses. They shovel mud from parking lots and pick up trash and rubble from public areas in communities. Pray for the fragrance of Christ to fill the neighborhoods, replacing the stench of dead fish and decaying garbage.
Remember the families who still have mission loved ones. There are over 8,000 yet missing. Bodies are being discovered daily as the military continue to search as they carefully remove the rubble from the costal towns.
This past weekend, a team from Yokosuka who came to bring supplies to Ishinomaki, brought 280 boxes packed with food but they ran out before all could receive a box. Over 300 showed up to receive food. After the food drop, the volunteers (about 20 of them) went to help tear down what was left of a house. They worked hard in the rain and wind, and wanted to keep working until the job was totally finished, but the Japanese people in charge finally told them they had to go as it was getting late and it was not safe to continue working. Even though they did not finish, the family was so thankful for all that they did.
As we go from place to place to deliver goods and food, we hear “thank you, thank you, thank you” every where we go. How blessed we are to have a part in meeting people’s needs and sharing God’s love with them. Pray for God’s comfort and blessing on these who are in such great need. Pray for them to hunger for God just as they hunger daily for physical food. And pray we can meet that need as well.
