A Year of New Beginnings
March 14, 2008
Mrs. S made small talk with missionary Donna Qualls each weekday morning during the Qualls’ first year in Sendai as their children waited for the school bus. Their children no longer ride the same bus, but Mrs. S and Donna remain friends and make a point to see each other fairly regularly. Mr. S was one of the few fathers present with his children at the community rice-dumpling party. When the school held a parent visitation day, he missed work to attend. On both occasions, though fairly shy by nature, Mr. S went out of his way to greet Kevin, Donna’s husband. Mr. and Mrs. S’s two elementary-aged sons and one soon-to-start first-grade daughter attend birthday parties hosted by the Qualls and often greet Kevin and Donna in the neighborhood and at school. Please join the Qualls in praying for the S family. Pray that these who have blessed the Qualls with their friendship will likewise receive a blessing through the Qualls. Pray that as they watch the “JESUS” video the Qualls gave them for Christmas, the entire S family will put their trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Christmas seems long ago as children graduate from kindergarten, elementary school, etc. during the month of March and begin a new school year in April. Pray that the children and parents will remember the witnesses they have heard from the Qualls. Pray that this will be a year of new beginnings for them, not only in school, but in the school of faith as they put their faith in Jesus Christ.

Got something to say?

Hi Lana -
I found your pages on facebook, and remember sitting in on a class you taught on discipleship at the CPI conference. Very encouraged to read this. Currently I’m on a sabbatical in Southeast Asia, based in Singapore, but I will be returning to Japan (and most likely back to Sendai) by the end of the year.
Our churches (unfortunately) have typically not had a history of partnership with other churches and missions. However, I want to do my part to build relationships with others and work together in the mission in Japan. To be honest, I’ve no idea how to begin building those bridges, but I’d really like to join the Qualls, yourself, and others in prayer and outreach.
Blessings,
Joel Osborne
