Left Behind

2009 10 Qualls webpic Left behindCurrently our family is on stateside assignment in America after a nearly four-year-long first term.  Our first term was largely spent learning the Japanese language and culture and sharing Christ with Japanese we met along the way.  Two years into our first term we met Chi-san.  Chi-san and her husband visited our home at various times during those next two years.  We had the joy of being invited to their home as well.  Chi-san’s husband explained to us some of the struggles facing the average Japanese family.  He also shared that he believed the answers to many struggles Japanese face could likely be found in modern religion.  He himself is searching the holy writings of major religions.

Please join us in praying for Chi-san’s family (and many other friends in Sendai like them) with whom we have shared the “good news” of Jesus Christ and our very lives.  The day before leaving Sendai, we spent a good three plus hours visiting with their family, again sharing about Jesus at every opportunity.  Because we left dear unbelieving friends like them behind, we were full of sorrow when we first came stateside just a little over two months ago now.  But really we are not without hope as we think ahead to our return to Japan. Please join us in praying God’s promises for Chi-san’s husband: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7 NIV) and for us: “He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaths with him.” Psalm 126:6 NIV
