Good bye 2007
December 30, 2007
Tomorrow is the last day of 2007! Millions of Japanese will be visiting the temples to usher in the new year. The temple gong will sound 108 times, the people will throw money in the offering box, clap their hands, buy arrows and good luck charms to “protect” them in 2008. Then they will go home with empty hearts to face the coming year.
There will be Christians in areas near the temples handing out scripture portions. Others will be sharing the gospel with those who are headed to or leaving the temples. Pray for the hearts of those Japanese to be open to God’s message of salvation.
In the midst of the noise and bustle of the celebration of New Years, pray they will have ears to hear and accept Christ who can give hope and strength to meet any challenge that might come in 2008!!

I have joined Lana’s Facebook group, Outreach Japan. It has reconnected me with what is happening in the spiritual life of Japan. I served in Japan for a short term of two years, yet my heart still loves the Japanese and still yerns to see many come to faith in Jesus. Lana’s updates and her (& husband’s) labor in Japan thrill my heart and I know pleases my Lord. I am planning on challenging my friends on Facebook to consider joining Outreach Japan and spend 2008 praying with fervency for the souls of Japan.
To God be the glory!
Chris
