Idols Don’t Help
October 17, 2006
Eighty-four year old Mrs. Shima met a Christian young lady who was delivering milk products door to door in her neighborhood. As they visited together, Mrs. Sa, the Christian, shared her testimony of how God had saved her, blessed her and helped her in hard times. After hearing the testimony, Mrs. Shima said, “My idols don’t help me. In fact, I want to throw them away because they are useless.” Mrs. Sa hesitated, and didn’t present the gospel to her at that time, but shared the experience with Mrs. SE, her mentor.
Mrs. Se sensed that a chance to present the gospel had been missed. As she prayed during her devotion the following morning, Mrs.Se felt she must go and take Mrs. Sa and another young Christian to witness to Mrs. Shima that very day. At the leaders’ training meeting that morning, Mrs. Se shared her burden with the other leaders who prayed for Mrs. Shima’s salvation and claimed promises from the word for her.
About 10:00 that night my cell phone beeped, alerting me to incoming email. I opened my phone to see the message. “Mrs. Shima was saved!!” Praise the Lord!! Pray for this elderly lady to know without a doubt that she is a child of the King; pray that as she grows in the Lord she will experience and share with others the joy and peace that Jesus gives her. Pray that she will indeed throw away all of those idols and that this will be a great testimony to the others of the presence and power of the Lord in her life!!!!!
