Come to Me
February 1, 2010
In Matthew 11:28 Jesus said, “… “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (NLT)
Sometimes when I look out my window and see people walking, bicycling, or driving by I wonder, “What do they think about God?” “Where do they go when they are weary and carrying heavy burdens?” “Do they know that God cares?”
I asked a college student at one of the major universities in Japan if he ever talks to his friends about the meaning of life, the purpose of their life, or if there is a God. His answer is, “No, because my friends will think I’m too serious and won’t want to talk to me.”
Maybe this is part of the reason most Japanese don’t seem to be open to talking about spiritual matters. Please pray the Lord will continue to open up the hearts of the Japanese and give them a spiritual hunger that they cannot ignore.
