Not a carp!!!

Utsunomiya is a beautiful city. Some days we go out and walk through our city and pray for the people to be saved. Recently as we were walking along the river that runs through our city and we noticed several very big carp, at least two feet long, swimming up stream. Sometimes we feel like we are swimming up stream as we share our faith with the Japanese. We seem to be using a lot of energy, but not making very much progress. Some times it feels like we are losing the battle. How grateful we are that we are not carp and it is not our effort that brings the victory. When young David faced Goliath he recognized that the battle is the Lord’s and in 1 Samuel 17:47 said to Goliath, “All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” Pray with us as we look forward to the victory that the Lord will bring in the hearts of Japanese who turn to Him in faith as we proclaim His Gospel here in Utsunomiya.
