Today, one day before the anniversary of the triple disaster that struck northeast Japan on March 11,2011, families attended memorial services, offered flowers to their deceased loved ones, and visited graves. Many more will follow the same routine tomorrow on the anniversary. Thousands of bodies have yet to be recovered, so there is no closure for those who still have their loved ones listed as “missing”. Much of Japan and the world think that this tragedy is past and folks are moving on. That is true for some, but for many, hope for their future is something yet to be grasped.
Tohoku Care continues to minister to those in the disaster area. This spring volunteers will install play ground equipment at the herb garden park, build roofs over the decks, minister to the heart needs of the people in the temporary housing areas. Pray for personnel to lead the teams that come. Pray for people to be encouraged, to laugh and experience joy, to have listening ears to hear the gospel and for open hearts to receive God’s message and faith to believe and become His child.
