The town that was

The town that was

Temporary!!! How many of us dislike that word?  The main highway between Minami Sanriku to Rikuzentaka along the Tohoku coast has over 8 temporary bridges. Much repair has been done since the tsunami, but as the government waits to raise the level of the land along the coast, they are also waiting to rebuild many of the bridges in the destroyed areas.

Usually we think of temporary as a few days or weeks or at the most months, but this “temporary” is three years and counting. In between the temporary bridges, the temporary housing areas set on narrow strips of land along the edges of the mountains or in reclaimed rice paddies.

“Permanent”. ┬áMost of us wan a permanent home, a permanent job, etc., but as I thought about what is permanent, I was reminded that for all of us our home here on earth is temporary. Our permanent home is Heaven with our Savior.

The government is preparing to build permanent bridges and housing areas. Pray for the survivors to find hope and a vision of their temporary future here on this earth. Also, Pray that the people of Tohoku will realize that life on this earth is temporary and this is the time to prepare for eternity and their permanent home. Pray that they will accept the Gospel, give their hearts and lives to Christ, make preparations for a permanent home with the Lord!!! Pray that people will not wait any longer but will eagerly turn to Christ and embrace Him!!
